Bristol School League Tables Throw up Some Surprises

As expected, St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School was the top-performing state school in Bristol in 2007, according to the annual league tables of GCSE and A level results, published last week.

The Church of England secondary school, located in the city centre, outperformed several fee-paying independent schools, including St Ursula's, Badminton School, Clifton College and QEH.

St Mary Redcliffe was the only state school in Bristol's top ten, with Cotham School appearing as the second best-performing state school, also ahead of several independent schools.

Love them or loathe them, school league tables show no sign of disappearing. The full list, with a national searchable database, can be found here.
