Bristol Rovers 0 - 3 Leeds

The final score would suggest that we were thrashed, owned, rinsed and mullered. Which is a great shame considering that Rovers had most of the possession and most of the chances in this tightly fought match at the Memorial Stadium against recently-relegated Leeds United.

The difference was in defense. While Leeds maintained a solid back four, the Rovers defense had woeful gaps. All too often, opponents were not closed down quickly or assertively in the danger areas, a worrying feature of Bristol's performance which must be quickly addressed if they are to make sustained progress in League One.

In the end, the score flattered the visiting Yorkshiremen, though Jermaine Beckford's acrobatic bicycle kick to score the final goal was a piece of pure skill that had even some of the hardened gas heads applauding from the terraces.
